The molecular diagnostic unit was the first Human diagnostic laboratory in Chile to offer the PCR assays to Biomedical Science. The unit was formed in 2004 with the aim of using PCR to detect pathogens, and since 2006 we have been offering PCR diagnostic assays to different microorganisms including viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites. To date we have processed over 65,000 diagnostic samples by PCR. All our PCR assays are designed and validated in-house by experienced molecular biologists with input from clinicians and all assays include internal amplification controls to ensure the highest reliability possible. The unit operates several PCR machines, which are use for multiplex PCR diagnostic assays. Recently the unit to expand the range of genetic tests offered.

PCR to detect infectious diseases of humans

The development of molecular biological methods represented a substantial change in microbiological research and diagnostics by making the genetic material of an organism accessible and identifiable. Molecular tests (eg: Polymerase Chain reaction) are now able to exceed classical tests in speed, specificity and sensitivity and most can provide additional specific relevant information about the target, such as type, subtype, lineage, drug resistance, serotype, and so forth.
Molecular techniques represent an effective tool for the diagnosis, research and monitoring of disease in humans.
In PCR testing, nucleic acid (DNA or RNA) is isolated from the specimen, then amplified (after an extra reverse transcription step in the case of RNA) using highly specific primers complementary to known target pathogen sequences.
Controls are run simultaneously; internal controls monitor extraction and PCR efficiency.
iso   Amplified sequences are visualized and recorded.
DNA/DNAc of the client sample is stored at our lab for three months to facilitate any follow up testing.
Latent or early infections can often be detected by PCR before disease symptoms are apparent.
Hosts with high titers of some viruses can actually exhibit very low antibody levels as their immune systems are challenged by an infection. This can result in false negative diagnoses if antibody testing alone is used.
Many different sample types are appropriate for PCR testing. Check our assay datasheets for any test's sample requirements.

Bioingentech serves researchers and doctors from different specialties with molecular diagnostic testing for infectious diseases that affect humans. Our lab staff is specializing in PCR assays for infectious diseases of humans. We provide fast service and competitive pricing in each of our assay categories. Our objective is to provide to the physicians and research communities the fastest, highest quality molecular infectious disease testing available.

Other specific tests can be developed on request.
